About the Bharthiar University
Constituted in February 1982 by the Government of Tamilnadu under the Bharthiar University Act, 1981, the Bharthiar University is headquartered in Coimbatore. The core of the University was formed by the Postgraduate Centre of the University of Madras. This Postgraduate Centre was functioning in Coimbatore even before 1982. The University Grants Commission (UGC) granted the recognition to the University in May 1985. The University aims to participate in the task of instilling relevant knowledge, skills, creative attitudes, values and teach the country’s youth so that they can contribute to the overall development of the country.
