About Madras University:

The University of Madras is generally known as UNOM and was established on 5th September 1857 by an Act of the Legislative Council of India. It was designed on the model of London University and is regarded as one of the traditional universities in India.
 
The university resides in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, has progressed and expanded throughout the 19th century to cross the whole of South India.
